You must excuse me for not having the resistance to re-post this excellent argument and analysis. I'm too much a Francophile to pass the excellent praise on la belle langue. The text has been copied from a Frenchman who's now living and/or studying in England and his observation on languages is just spot on. And I'll provide the translation, so no worries aye.

La France seduit, rayonne par son patrimoine historique et culturel avec les arts, la litterature, sa gastronomie, ses produits de luxe, sa mode, sa capitale. Chez les etrangers il y a parfois une volonte de retrouver tout ces plaisirs a travers l’apprentissage de la langue francaise. (Beaucoup d’italien associaient le francais a l’elegance, le raffinement, la luxure... ils voyaient en lui un idiome noble, charnel) Voila une des facteurs qui explique entre autre que le francais plait meme si l’occidentalisation des peuples tiers et l’internationalisation des individus passe par la maitrise de l’anglais. Le francais est d’avantage appris par plaisir et par volonte d’enrichissement personnel que par necessite comme c’est le cas avec l’anglais. La France dispose de precieux outils de promotion de la langue francaise dans le monde entier : ambassades, consulats et surtout grace aux alliances. Le francais a aussi son importance dans le contexte politique de l’Europe : l’anglais et le francais sont les langues officielles au parlement et a la commission europeenne. Dans les langue etrangeres les mots francais restent omnipresents ; par exemple en Italie je me suis apercu que le mots « reportage », « dossier » faisaient partie du lexique italien et en me renseignant j’ai su qu’il s’agissait depuis plusieurs annees deja, d’empruns a la langue francaise. Il y a quelques jours de cela je lisait la presse anglaise et la encore j’ai rencontre des empruns a la langue francaise : « fiancee » tres souvent utilise pour remplacer « girl friend », « matinee » En espagnol parle au Venezuela on peut entendre le mot « bijoux » pour designer toute sorte de petite joaillerie.

A few years ago I was reading English media and there I furthermore met some borrowings from French: “fiancee” very often used to replace “girlfriend”, in the Spanish spoken in Venezuela we could hear the word “bijoux” to designate all sorts of tiny jewelleries.
